Plot/Synopsis :

Sahei, activist in the student movement, runs away from the confrontation with the riot police in the riot at Shinjuku. He goes back home and there quarrels with his elder brother, who is a policeman. In their fight, his brother’s pistol fires and the brother falls. Sahei and Yuri, his brother’s wife, run away by train northwards. He tries to persuade her to continue to run away with him, but she suffers from a sense of guilt and thinks about nothing but dying. After realising that she can’t die, she gradually opens her mind to him, and they start to love each other. And near a lake, they believe that they have created their own world…
