The film deals with all kinds of problems connected with the sexual relationship of people. Whilst every question is discussed by the panel., the film illustrates; the difference between male and female sexual organs and their functions, positions, and authentic coition whereby a split screen system is used enabling us to see the various reactions in different parts of the body. In connection with this as well as in other parts of the film, diagrams and animations are used to simplify the understanding of the complicated reactions which occur when a person is under sexual stimulus.

与其说这是一部具有划时代意义的性教育电影，还不如说是一个创下“深喉（Deep Throat）”式票房奇迹的硬核（hardcore）低成本商业片。
这是“后五月风暴”的北欧，69年夏邻国丹麦成为世界上第一个硬核色情片可以合法拍摄放映的国家。9月22日，在经过三天闭门磋商后，瑞典电影检查机构负责人Erik Skoglund宣布一刀不剪，放行这部挑战尺度上限的电影。
该片被列为15禁（瑞典电影分级：Btl,7,11,15）,甫一上映就获得了巨大的票房成功，70万克朗的成本当年就在人口不足9百万的瑞典创下650万的票房收入。导演TORGNY WICKMAN也一鼓作气推出两部续集，同样获得成功。
然而，此片在国外则命运多舛，挪威和英国禁映，通过美国海关时被没收（该案经过20个月的诉讼，结果由最高法院裁决，判海关败诉，71年6月30日影片得以在纽约首映），而在西德上映时足足剪掉35分钟。3年后（1973 7.23）英国电检主管David
Ormsby-Gore在复检时与时俱进，影片足本通过。不料这竟招致3万人走上伦敦街头表示抗议，其中包括当时32岁的著名歌手Cliff Richard。不过，当局顶住压力并未收回成命。
顺便提一下，《出租车司机》中罗伯特-德尼罗带女友看的就是这部电影。
另外，2004年也就是35年后，瑞典重拍了此片，取名为《Kärlekens språk 2000》。
